Martinez Dental Solutions offers veneers to patients who want an immediate smile makeover. Veneers are thin, tooth-shaped coverings for teeth that change the appearance of your smile and are commonly used to correct problems such as discolored teeth, cracked teeth, misshaped teeth, and gapped teeth. Crowns can also improve the look of one or more damaged teeth by covering the entire tooth with a custom-designed cap.
What to Expect When Getting Porcelain Veneers and Crowns
We will discuss the benefits of the various options available to you (i.e. porcelain). The complexity of your case will play a role in the treatment planning and completion of your smile make-over.
Your teeth will need to be "prepared" for the veneers. This is a process that involves buffing down some of the tooth enamel and, in some cases, reshaping the tooth. Your veneers will be custom created to fit perfectly over your prepared teeth. To protect your teeth while the veneers are being made, you will need to wear temporary veneers until your custom restoration is complete.
We will take an impression of your teeth and create a replica of your teeth known as a "wax-up." This diagnostic wax-up is then used to create both temporary and permanent veneers. Note that patients in need of a single veneer do not usually need to go through the wax-up process.
Once your permanent porcelain veneers arrive at our office, we will remove the temporaries and place your new veneers on your teeth using a permanent bond.
How is a Crown Different than a Veneer?
While both crowns and veneers can make one or more teeth appear brighter and healthier, veneers are thin-tooth covers placed over the fronts of teeth and crowns are caps that are placed over an entire tooth. Veneers can make teeth appear whiter and better-aligned while caps are typically used to prevent damage to existing damaged teeth and restore their appearance.
Getting porcelain crowns and veneers is a fast and beautiful way to correct many aesthetic problems.
