4 Common Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures

People tend to only think about visiting the dentist when it’s time for a cleaning or when experiencing tooth pain. But, there are many other cosmetic dentistry procedures to help fix issues, brighten smiles, and build confidence. Continue reading to learn more from the team at Martinez Dental Solutions.

Teeth Whitening

Dark-colored foods and beverages, including coffee, tea, and berries, can cause tooth stains over time. Professional teeth whitening may brighten your smile and significantly and securely lighten the shade of your teeth. Many dentists provide teeth whitening services both in-office and at home. The duration of in-office whitening is around one hour. Usually, at-home bleaching takes a few weeks.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are light, durable covers that attach to the front surfaces of your teeth. They are made of medical-grade ceramic. Veneers, like dental bonding, can hide a variety of cosmetic problems, such as chipping, cracks, and discoloration. Veneers come in a variety of styles, including conventional and minimal prep. All veneers involve at least partial removal of natural enamel, but depending on the type you pick, they might be reversible. Porcelain veneers typically need to be replaced every 10 years or so.

Dental Bonding

A tooth-colored composite resin is used in dental bonding. This substance is used by your dentist to hide cracks, craze lines (hairline cracks), discoloration, and other cosmetic flaws. Dental bonding can change the shape of a tooth to make it longer, wider, or more consistent. Every five to seven years, dental bonding typically needs to be replaced. Also, because natural tooth enamel is not removed, it is entirely reversible.

Teeth Contouring

Little portions of enamel are removed during this process to alter the contour of your teeth. Your dentist can only remove so much tooth structure since you only have a finite amount of natural enamel, so this option is limited to certain cases. In only one office visit, your dentist can shape your teeth.

That's only a few cosmetic dentistry procedures we provide. Martinez Dental Solutions also offers composite fillings, dental implants, and much more. We serve all of Jacksonville's surrounding areas. Request an appointment today.
